The Management of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) joined the rest of the world in commemorating the “International Women’s Day” (IWD), culminating in the unveiling of a standard crèche at the Lagos Premier Ports Apapa. This being a pilot case is expected to be duplicated in other Port locations Nation-wide to assist nursing mothers concentrate better on-the-job, the expectant inference being greater operational efficiency.

The THEME for this year’s celebration being “Balance for Better” also showcases other areas of concern as “Think Equal, Build Smart and Innovate for Change” is actually a clarion call for unprecedented opportunities for women and the girl child.

The anchor during this year’s celebration has been identified as the acceleration of progress for gender equality, encouragement of investment in gender-responsive social systems, and the building of services and infrastructure that meet the needs of women and girls.
